What’s A Torsion Spring?

A torsion spring exerts torsional or rotational force in the opposite direction when twisted. Typically, the ends of a torsion spring are attached to other components as part of an assembly. When those parts rotate around the center of the spring, it tries to push them back to their original position.

A key characteristic of torsion springs is their versatility. They’re capable of storing and releasing angular energy or holding a mechanism in place by deflecting the legs through the body centerline axis.
